Children’s Celebration

Buena Vista Children’s Services hosted the 23rd Annual Children’s Celebration on Saturday April 22nd in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year’s Children’s Celebration was hosted by Mingus Union High School, and attracted several hundred children, parents, and community members from all over the Verde Valley to further support a Strong Verde. This fun-filled event provided carnival games, free popcorn, many fantastic raffle prizes, face painting, children’s activities, and much more! “The high school was a great venue, it brought families on to campus that may have not been there before, MUHS staff was so accommodating and supportive, and the facility is beautiful. It was a great day!”- Erin Mabery, BVCS Executive Director.

The Children’s Celebration has been the spotlight event in the Verde Valley to aide in the effort to prevent child abuse, while also celebrating the great strides that our community has made in combatting this issue. Child abuse can be prevented by Strengthening our families which in turn Strengthens our Community. During the Celebration, we offer resources from all aspects of the Verde to parents and families. This free event is sponsored by the Verde Valley CAP Council and funded in part by the Arizona Department of Child Safety, and supported by our friends at VVMC, APS and First Things First.

Buena Vista Children’s Services would like to thank all of the vendors who came out to support the event by providing materials and information about their organizations to parents, and also creating a fun-filled atmosphere for all of the children! These vendors include Hilltop Christian Preschool, Cottonwood Recreation Center, Habitat for Humanity, Classical Conversations, First Things First, Expect More Arizona, High Desert Youth Football, House of Ruth, Cottonwood Children’s Dentistry, KC’s Family Martial Arts & Tumbling, Parent Café, Verde Valley Sanctuary, WIC, Verde Valley Christian School, Head Start, YC Community Health, PAX, Spectrum Healthcare, Verde Valley Montessori School, and Verde Valley Medical Center’s Healthy Families program. “We are so blessed with an amazing community that can come together for one day and really show families what we have to offer. There are so many great resources and supportive businesses to help support strong Verde families.”

Buena Vista also thanks all of the wonderful volunteers who came out to help with setup, takedown, and everything in between! These volunteers included the Buena Vista staff, friends and family of the organization, and Verde Valley Leadership class of 2017. With the help of all of these fantastic volunteers this year’s celebration was a huge success.
